Tricky Train Problem

A train travels 180 miles in 3 hours. It then takes a different route and travels 240 miles in 4 hours. What is the average speed of the train for the entire journey?

Comments

  1. To find the average speed, first, calculate the total distance and total time taken.

    Total distance: 180 miles + 240 miles = 420 miles
    Total time: 3 hours + 4 hours = 7 hours
Now, use the formula for average speed:

Average speed = Total distance / Total time
    = 420 miles / 7 hours
    = 60 miles per hour

Average speed = 60 miles per hour
