Crates

A large crate holds twelve cartons of milk whereas a small crate holds only four cartons. I have five large crates and twenty small crates available. What is the smallest number of crates in total that I could use to store 110 cartons of milk?

  1. To use the least amount of crates, we need to use the most amount of large crates. Using all 5 will give us 50 cartons remaining. We can fill these up with 13 more small crates. This gives us an result of 18 crates as our answer
