How much would it cost?
2 packets of crisps and 2 drinks costs £1.50. 2 packets of crisps and 1 drink costs £1.10. What would it cost me if I buy 3 packets of crisps and 4 drinks?

Using this we can make 2 formulae:

drinks = d
2c + 2d = 1.50
2c + d = 1.10
From this, if we subtract the second equation from the first we can see that 1 drink is 40 pence.
Now, we can substitute into the second equation d as 40p. This would give you::
2c + 0.4 = 1.10
2c = 0.7
c = 0.35
Now we are done solving these equations we can substitute our answer in saying 3 packets of crisps would be 3 * 35p which is 105p and 4 drinks is 160p so our answer would be 265p or £2.65
