Julia thinks of a number. She multiplies it by 5 and then subtracts 14. The answer she gets is 46. What number did she originally think of?

    We can call this number x. Now we can create a formula.

    5x - 14 = 46
    5x = 60
    x = 12

    Now we have our answer, 12
