y² +2y = 168
y² + 2y - 168 = 0
Now we can solve this quadratic with the quadratic equation:
y = (-b ± √(b² - 4ac))/2a
y = (-2 ± √(676))/2
y = -2 ± 26/2
y = -2 ± 13
y = 11
y = -15
