Ages

“David is 11”, said Anne.

“I am 13”, said David.

“David is older than me”, said Meera.

Anne sometimes tells the truth, Meera always tells the truth and David never tells the truth. One of them is 11, another 12 and the other 13.

a) How old is David?

c) How old is Meera?

d) How old is Anne

  1. Meera always tells the truth so David has to either be 12 or 13 because Meera will be younger. David always lies and he said he is 13 meaning he has to be 12.

Now that we know David is 12, we can tell that Meera, who always tells the truth, has to be 11 as she said she was younger than David.

This leaves Anne who has to be the only age remaining: 13.
