A bridge is built across a river. One quarter of the bridge is over the left bank of the river and one third of the bridge is over the right bank. The river is 120 m wide. How long is the bridge?

First, we can see how much you have to multiply the second shape to get the first shape. We can do this by doing 48/8 which is 6. Now we know we need to multiply x by 6 to get 18. This gives us an equation:
