A large barrel and some bottles
A large barrel contains 3.25 litres of water. Mel fills 500 ml bottles from the barrel. She then uses the rest of the water to fill as many 150 cups as she can. What is the largest number of cups which Mel can completely fill?
Well, if Mel fills one bottle from the barrel, then she would have 3250 - 500 = 2750. If you fill all that you can, you get 2750/150 which is 18 and a third. This gives you the answer of 18 full bottles.
