A bridge is built across a river. One quarter of the bridge is over the left bank of the river and one third of the bridge is over the right bank. The river is 120 m wide. How long is the bridge?

Split the shape into lots of equilateral triangles, the same size as the ones already split on the sides. Then just count the shaded ones logically and you will get your answer as 1/2 or 0.5 or half
